A delegation comprising of Trimizi Zainal, Hanafi Abdul Malek and Ms. Nor Azian Ab. Rahman, of Professional Islamic Support and Nurture Group (PISANG), arrived in the UK on Tuesday 22nd April 2008. Their presence in the UK is to cooperate with Melayu UK in bringing back Sufiah Yusof to live a decent and respectful life. Abdul Hadi Talhah, the fourth member of the delegation, will be arriving in 2 weeks time.

PISANG comprise of professionals in various disciplines geared to meet the challenges of promoting holistic Islamic treatment at the global arena. With a high success rate in Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Singapore, Australia, USA, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, Sufiah’s issue has attracted the interest of the group.

We are very concerned with the involvement of Sufiah in immoral activities, which we believe is caused by complex external and internal factors. By taking a pro-active action in Sufiah’s case, we hope to protect the dignity of a woman, a Malay and a genius. We do not want a repetition of similar cases either in the UK or anywhere in the world.

Three decades ago Islamic banking does not exist and banking without interest was confined to theoretical ideas on paper. The world, including the majority of Muslims, was sceptical that Islamic banking was feasible. The proponents of Islamic banking then had a tough time answering criticisms from the opponents. Now Islamic banking has become a reality and big conventional banks e.g. HSBC and Lloyds TSB sell Islamic banking products alongside their conventional products. The voice of criticism is no longer heard.
